A tutorial and a Giveaway

I love being featured, it makes me so happy!
On Tuesday i was featured on Blissfully domestic for the famous bangle tute!

Now onto today's Business, have you linked up yet?

For this weeks tutorial it's another simple item, but probably not as great easy and adaptable as the bangles.

But seeming as i know i have a wide "mummy" audience, it is most definately useful for many of you.

If you've ever travelled with a bub, lost or dropped a dummy (Binky, pacifier) during a meltdown you will understand the importance of one of these bad boys.
Here's a Dummy Clip Tutorial to appease the fussiest of mummas and meet within Australia's rigid guidelines.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will need:

1 3inch x 11.8inch (30cm) Strip of fabric. or 1.5inch bias binding to skip step one.
1 suspender clip
1 complete snap set (metal hammer ones available at your local fabric store)

 1. Iron you fabric strip about 1cm from each side inwards.
 2. Fold down each end (i pinned this to show you) then fold the entire strip lengthwise

 3. Pin

 4. Sew the entire around the entire piece of fabric, 1mm from the edge.
 5. Iron to ensure a neat, crisp result.
 6. Thread through your suspender clip careful to ensure the top side show the fold side, not the end side.
 7. sew this closed with a straight stitch, reverse over a few times to ensure a firm hold.

 8. apply your snaps (instructions come with metal hammer snaps, or alternatively use a snap machine if you own one)
snap one on the end and one 3 inches down or 1.5 inches when snapped together.
ensure the snap caps are on the same side at the top of the suspender clip.
And TA-DAAA Your done, easy as that and completely adhering to Australian safety standards!

Ginger Snap Delights - A food Tutorial

So, it's been a busy week, like a the house is turned upside down kinda week!
So I'm "cheating" I'm resurrecting a food tutorial from my previous blog- so for the 5 people that followed it i apologise!
Here goes:

Today I'm teaching you how to cook the easiest party pleaser you've ever laid eyes on- i guarantee even if cooking isn't your proficiency you will be able to cook this :) here we go:
__________________________________________________________________________________
Ginger snap delights
(often referred to as the giant pod!?)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Ingredients

 1. Caramel Jerseys/ toffee's (toffee's really are not ideal-they're too hard!) ,
2. Gingersnap biscuits,
3. Milk chocolate (1 square per biscuit).

(told you it was easy peasy)

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit).

Step 2: Lay your biscuit on top of a patty pan, you can use a muffin/ cupcake tin, but a patty pan is best.

Step 3: Place in oven for 5 minutes.

Step 4: remove from oven (with oven-mits) an immediately press in the centers with a spoon or ice cream scoop.

it should have a small indent.

Step 5: Lay a caramel toffee on each biscuit

place back in oven for 5 minutes - they should look something like this.

Step 6: now this is where the chocolate comes in. place chocolate in a bowl - 1 piece to every biscuit.

heat on high for 30seconds.

STIR! - this is VERY important- even if it doesn't look melted STIR!
Continue heating on high in 30 second intervals until melted (usually around a minute and a half)

Cover the caramel with the chocolate.

STep 7 - optional: decorate to taste.

A very quick and easy delicacy sure to win your guests over!

A Bangle tute

I've seen a lot of tutorials on various cuffs, bangle or bracelets- but they all seem to include either something specialised that i cannot find in a regular shop or just take too long to make. Now i know I'm not sitting on a monopoly here, but i had a little brain burst! I needed something i could make in minutes, that didn't necessarily need drying time and with a little luck would suit any outfit, without "over-accessorising".

Meet The Bangle Revolution
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will need:

  • 1 inch x 20inch strip of fabric, trim, scrap or bias tape
  • 75mm craft metal ring (pref. welded together) - mine were 70cents each at my local Spotlight.
 1. wrap the fabric strip around the metal ring ensuring you overlap the starting point and pull firm when necessary.

2. continue this the entire legth around.

3. Once you return to the starting point, either continue overlapping until you have used all your strip or snip after two loops around the starting point.

4. To secure the end you can hot glue/ fabric glue and hold in place until dry with a peg or alternatively you can secure with a firm bow with ribbon or lace- this also adds a cute embellishment.

5. Accessorize as you wish, with bows, beads, flowers or lace.

And TA-DAAA!!!
the simplest quickest awesomest bangle you could ever make, no prior crafting skills necessary!

Don't Forget to Link-up for our first follow-me Wednesday linky party!

p.s. this fulfills my tutorial a week for the week, but keep an eye open i see something brewing in my drafts :)
